You may not know that Lindfield Bonfire Society is a no profit organisation. We run a number of events in an attempt to make enough money to fund the bonfire night each year. With the ever increasing prices of fireworks and event insurance this is getting harder and harder.

Charity

Money that is collected on the night is always donated direct to Charity with none of it going towards the increasing costs of running such an event. We therefore rely on money we can raise through local events for the buying of fireworks as well as other costs that need to be met.

We Need Volunteers

Did you know it takes over 200 people to run the Lindfield Bonfire nights?? We are currently in serious need of volunteers to help with a variety of tasks. This is an opportunity to truely join in the Lindfield Bonfire festivities and such a major part of the Lindfield Yearly Calendar.

There are 4 different types of roles that we require at the moment. We need help from people that can help on the 5th of november with setting up and building the bonfire, we also need people to help on the day to set up the Arena to ensure that the area is safe for the thousands of people that will be attending.

If you would like to be in the middle of the buzz then you could be a marshal that helps along the route. It is vital for any event such as this to have marshals along the route to help with the control of people and any behavioural issues. The police as always are working with us on this but we do need to help and so you could be the person.

The purpose of the bonfire is 2 fold, we want everyone to have an enjoyable evening, forget about their worries and have a magical evening in the boosom of this beautiful village. At the same time we also try and raise some money for those less fortunate than ourselves. With that in mind we also require people to help by carrying around the buckets to ask people to put in some money for Charity! Did you know that EVERY PENNY given on the night is given to charity and so with your assistance more could be collected.

Finally we need people to help clear the event up. This is a thankless task tha must happen on the 6th November. When you have near 10,000 people walk around Lindfield it makes a mess. On the common we have people selling food, drink and other items and this all generates mess. In the light of day we require people to help us to clean up Lindfield Common.

We hope you can help, it need not be every year but just this year, you may well find that the people you meet and the comradery that you feel will make you think even about joing the Lindfield Bonfire Society.
