We are sorry to inform you all that following an extraordinary meeting of our Committee, Lindfield Bonfire Society has made the decision to cancel their 5th November Bonfire Night for 2020.
The Committee has issued this statement about the decision:
Lindfield Bonfire Night 2020 Cancellation Statement It is with great regret and sadness that the Chairman and Committee of Lindfield Bonfire Society have made the very difficult decision to cancel this year’s November 5th procession, bonfire and firework display in Lindfield.
We understand that many will be disappointed by that this will affect the charities we support, but hope that you understand that this decision has not been taken lightly. Our members are rightly proud of the 126 year history of Lindfield Bonfire Society, and have all worked hard since last December to plan for this year’s November 5th. We are very grateful to all for their efforts towards this.
As a society it is very important that we protect the people of Lindfield, our members and all those who support and attend our night. We have planned over many months for our event, but it is clear now that it is not possible for us to safely host our Bonfire Night whilst supporting current social distancing requirements. We would very much like to thank Sussex Police and Mid Sussex District Council for all their advice, guidance and support with our planning.
Lindfield Bonfire Society will continue to raise money to support our November 5th bucket collection so that we can make our usual annual donation to local children’s charities; CLAPA, Court Meadow RDA, Orchard house, Chestnut Tree House and Kangaroos. Please support these brilliant local children’s charities if you can as all need your help during these difficult times.
We hope 2021 will see a much improved situation and look forward to seeing you all at next year’s November 5th.
With regards, The Chair & Committee of Lindfield Bonfire Society

Many thanks to Newick for hosting a great Bonfire Night on Saturday 3rd. The firework display was fantastic. Please have a look at our 2012 photo gallery to see some pictures from the night.
We also wish to say thanks to Lindfield Life for running a great article about the Society and Bonfire Night in this months edition.
Today will see LBS working hard on getting everything ready for tomorrow (I will be out of the door as soon as this blog is finished to help with torch dipping). Things are going well and we are keeping our fingers crossed that the weather will sort itself out!
If you are intending to attend our event on the 5th you can find full details on our This Years Bonfire page. Please remember roads closures start at 18:30, do not bring sparklers, bankers or fireworks (opps! or bangers for that matter) and the Common will be muddy.
LINDFIELD BONFIRE SOCIETY WISHES YOU ALL A SAFE AND ENJOYABLE 5TH NOVEMBER BONFIRE NIGHT!
